About CookieCam

This year, I goes prime-time as the CookieCam fires up for the first time this season on Monday, December 6 at 7:00pm EST.

No time or desire to bake this year? No problem! Get those cookies from the bakery and live vicariously through me as I mess up recipes, burn cookies, and burn myself! All in front of your very eyes due to the power of the Internets!

New house! New kitchen! More burninating of innocent cookies!

For my new friends...CookieCam is a webcam that's pointed at me as I bake Christmas cookies. It refreshes every 30 seconds, and I keep an updated log of what I bake and what happens during that batch. That's it.

I'm positive I'll have one cam up and running. With the new kitchen, I'm not too sure I can get the second one up.

Tell your friends! Tell your neighbors! Tell your enemies! Tell everyone to visit: www.ladygypsy.net/cookiecam

CookieCam Frequently Asked Questions

When is CookieCam live?
In 2002 and 2003, I was working a different schedule where I'd be finished work at 2:00pm, and I'd start baking at 3:30ish. Not anymore. I'm back to a more typical schedule, and I don't get home now until 5:45. On a good day. So this year CookieCam will be going live between 7 and 7:30 Monday - Friday, and sporadically during the weekends. Oh, I live in New Jersey, so that's Eastern Time.

Where are you?
If the cam says it's on, and I'm not in the picture, I'm, well...not in the kitchen. I may be answering email while cookies bake. I may be adjusting the cookiecam. Be patient. I'll come back. If the cam's on and the kitchen's dark, I'm done baking, but am updating this page with my progress.

Is this the first time you've done something like this?
Nah. This is my third year. CookieCam was born in 2002, and was brought back by popular demand in 2003.

Why are you doing this again?
I yearn for approval. Not really. OK, I do. But I bake cookies anyway, so why not?

Well, what's different about this year?
I was a redhead in '02, had blonde highlights in '03, and am blonde now with a change on the horizon in '04. Besides that, we managed to escape the dingy apartment and finally bought a house with a bigger kitchen, so no more looking at me though the breakfast bar nook.

And your husband's OK with this?
My husband, affectionately known to my regular readers as Thor, works overnights so he's usually fast asleep while I make a fool of myself. Other than his desire not to be on camera very often, he's fine.

What are you wearing?
That's a saucy question! I'm usually in a long sleeved t-shirt, jeans or shorts, and my apron. Sometimes I wear a Santa Hat. Sometimes I wear Reindeer Antlers.

Take off your shirt!
That, sir, is not a question. This a "Frequently Asked Questions" page.

Fine, will you please take off your shirt?
That's better. Answer's still no.

Who are you talking to?
Either Thor or the pets. Or I could be singing along with my CDs. Sometimes you'll see me on the phone.

Who are you yelling at?
I have a dog named Max. He's a street thug, and he's made it his mission to destroy as much of my progress as possible. He hops up on my computer chair (out of your sight, but right in front of me) and tries to take the cookies off of the cooling racks. He also ate half a container of my chocolate chip cookies.

What's your technical setup?
Here's the gameplan. I have our Sony Digital HandyCam up on a tripod. It's connected via USB to my Dell laptop, which has a wireless card and is running TinCam. The cam refreshes every 30 seconds and is beamed to the wireless broadband router in my computer room and ftp'd to my website, which is hosted by Lunarpages.

Google ads?? Have you sold out?
Nah. I'm mostly curious about how they work. I probably won't earn a single red cent.

How can I get in touch with you?
By email at cookiecam@ladygypsy.net or by Instant Messaging "cookiecamlady" on Yahoo Instant Messenger.
