OK...3 1/2 hours later, I have some gingerbread dough in the fridge and a batch of chocolate chip cookies baked. And some guests. And lunch (those of you joining me earlier watched me eat Chinese food.

I'll probably be on most of the day, so stay tuned for more cookie goodness! :)

I'm here! Just updating the cams...on in a few.

No CookieCam today, sorry. But I'm going on a date tonight, dinner is at 6, I just got back from the gym and I haven't walked the dog yet.

For more details about my date, go here. For CookieCam, come back tomorrow, 12/6/03 and see what times I'll be in.

I'll have some steak for you!

Current Score: Kim 6; Cookies 1.

Hrm. Well, I TRIED to make the Royal Icing as per Martha (Kim bows reverently) but it just didn't solidify. :/ I had almost 2 lbs of powdered sugar in the bowl, but it was a nogo. It smelled sweet enough to send my pancreas into a tizzy. So I count that as a victory for the cookies. I'll try again tomorrow.

Yield: Almost 5 dozen cookies!
Injuries: None, though the burn from yesterday is still stinging.
Damage: Melted the plastic overwrap of a magazine when I accidentally touched the hot cookie sheet to it.
RIP: The First batch of peanut butter cookies are gone. Most of my peanut butter chip cookies are gone. Spouse says he needs to keep me busy.

By the way, thanks for the email and IMs, even if I can't get back to you right away. I feel so loved!

'Til tomorrow, my little CookieCrumbs!

OK. I'm back. Time to make Icing.

Taking a break while I let the doggie out. He's looking pitiful. :)

Cookie Status:

5:15: Chocolate Chip Cookies Batch 1 in oven
5:24: CCC1 out. Omigosh, each cookie is about the size of a small country. I have the 2nd tray ready to go in, but I think I'll take a little dough off of each cookie
5:32: CCC2 in oven
5:41: CCC2 out; CCC3 in
5:47: CCC3 out; burned bottoms. Thanks, Michael Graves. Your cookie sheet will be used for frozen pizza for now on. CCC4 in.
5:55: CCC4 out, CCC5 in
6:04: CCC5 out.

6:15: Gingerbread People Batch 1 in oven
6:20: GP1 out
6:29: GP2 in
6:34: GP2 out; GP3 in
6:36: GP3 out; cleanup of baking trays.

Now I'm SUPPOSED to quit, but I think I'll make up some frosting first. Not like I have anything else pressing to do....

The Gingerbread dough is firming nicely -- I popped it in the freezer as per the cookbook. Chocolate Chips are coming along well. I bought a Michael Graves Cookie Sheet from Target a few weeks ago, but every batch I put on it burns. :/ The centers don't cook but the bottoms blacken. So I guess for now I'll deal with having the two larger "insulated" cookie sheets.

Dave Matthews Band rules, by the way. :)

Yikes! It says to chill the gingerbread dough for THREE HOURS! This, my little CookieCrumbs, is what happens when you don't plan ahead. I guess in the meantime I can whip out some chocolate chip cookies. They don't have to chill and are pretty mindless to make. I use the recipe on the back of the wrapper.

And as an aside, I'd kill for a Mountain Dew right now. Pick me up a 2-liter, please? Kthxbye!

Just about to fire up the cams. :) Today I'm going to make gingerbread cookies. Plus, I'm going to be decorating the gingerbreads and yesterday's sugar cookies. Which should be fun since I'm not artistic.

By the way, my kitchen's not as messy as the cam makes it look. Trust me.

Plus, I'll be listening to Dave Matthews Band Live at Central Park. So that's what you'll hear me singing to. The "CookieCam" link to your left is what launches the cams.

Cookie Status:
4:43 Peanut Butter Cookies, Take 2. Batch 1 in oven
4:50 PBC1 out of oven. Burned! :( Threw minor tantrum and whacked elbow on the counter. As you can see, my kitchen's small so that's easy to do.
4:53: PBC2 in oven
5:00: PB2 out of oven, PB3 in oven
5:07: PB 3 out of oven. On to sugar cookies!

Remember, I'm still live so you can click on "CookieCam" on the left to launch the cameras!

Good afternoon! I have to take my dog Max out for his walk...then I'm back at 3:45 for CookieCam!

CookieCam returns from 3:30 pm EST to about 7:00pm EST today! Today I'll be rolling out sugar cookies and making some more snickerdoodles.

Monday, December 01, 2003

I used Martha Stewart's recipe for sugar cookies from her "Christmas with Martha Stewart Living" cookbook that Mom gave me for my birthday. They're in the fridge now, and I'll roll them out tomorrow and hope for the best.

5:32 -- Snickerdoodle batch 1 in oven
5:43 -- SD1 out; SD2 in
5:54 -- SD2 out; kitchen closed

Well, the snickerdoodle batter has to chill for an hour (though I'll probably cheat and bring it out in a half hour) so I'm going to do some more dough. This dough will be for the regular roll-out cookies. I'll make it ahead so I can roll them out tomorrow. :)

Hello! Today I'm making a batch (or two if I have time) of Snickerdoodles. Again, I'm starting with the easy stuff so I get back in the swing of baking.

Also, I'm sad to report that more than half of the Peanut Butter Cookies that I baked last night are MISSING! *glares at David*
