For me, this is slipping into Howard Hughes territory. Plus, I’m typoing a LOT on the keyboard lately and it’s bugging.

What do you think of dark nail polish? Is it tacky or trashy? I think they’re fine but last week I encountered some … lascivious … comments about dark fingernail polish which left me a little bit skeeved out.

My 20 year (weep!) high school reunion is being planned. Kudos to the ones who pulled it together, because I think we had over 500 in our graduating class. Anyway, it’s going to be $78 PER PERSON. Is this normal? It seems really pricey to me. At $78 pp, I may have to break WM’s heart by not taking him. I know he’s been looking forward to it.

I still miss my cat.

>> I haven’t called an endocrinologist yet. Because I’m a scared little dork. I’ll get over it.

>> I’m enjoying Mountain Dew Throwback — in moderation. It really does taste better with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. Real sugar brings out the true flavor of the brominated vegetable oil and makes the Yellow No 5 sparkle!

>> Our surviving cat, Charlie, has seemed to absorb parts of Misty’s personality, notably the silent meow. It’s unnerving and comforting at the same time.

• Health & Human Services: WM’s been sick for over 2 weeks now with some bug, and everytime I think I’m coming down with it, it backs off. I’m actually rooting to get ill so I’ll get over the getting ill process already.
• Department of Labor: I am still employed; however, all Gannettoids have to take 5 mandatory unpaid days of in the first fiscal Quarter. So I’ll be sporadically unemployed through February and March. To be completely honest, at work I am incredibly busy and incredibly lonely at the same time. I miss everyone.
• Transportation & Travel: My W2 came in yesterday, but TurboTax was down. WM did his last week and is getting a tidy refund. With his tidy refund and my hopefully middling one, we may be stupid whimsical and go to Walt Disney World for a four-day weekend in May to celebrate his birthday. Long-time readers should note that will mark an 18-month WDW dry spell. Dad also sent us a $200 Southwest gift card, so I’ll be making another trip to the Sunshine state in the near future to visit him in Retired Guy land.
• Department of Wildlife: A mouse ran through our kitchen last Wednesday, freaking me out considerably. I twittered my reaction and the response was, “Don’t you have cats?” Yes, but they were sleeping at the time. I decided the mouse was inside because it was miserable and cold out and as long as he didn’t poop here, I’d be okay. I named him Remy. I heard him running through the walls, squeaking and I smiled, knowing he was okay. Saturday, we heard Charlie meowing from the kitchen. When we turned, we saw him slinking toward the bedroom, brown lifeless parcel in his mouth. RIP, Remy.
• Education: About 70% of my spare time is spent anymore with my nose in a PHP book or script. Every New Year I make the resolution to learn PHP & MySQL. Something clicked this time, and I can’t stop. I have scripts all over my computer with cryptic names like echoecho.php, pizza.php, pizzascraps.php, and loopdeloop.php. Most of them work, too! Although my beads are collecting dust, this can only mean good things for me. The downside is that I’m always at a computer anymore and my hermit tendencies are kicking in again. Always something…
• Department of the Exterior: On Friday, I glued fake nails on in an attempt to kick the biting habit again. So far, so good, but it’s really hard to work the iPhone!
• Environment: Yesterday it felt like spring and I was happy. Today it is snowing and I feel duped.

I have to be AT WORK in 26 minutes, so time to pull out the hot rollers and get a move on. I’m still humming “Jungle Love,” by the way. Oh ee oh ee oh!

And now…the Friday Five – Animals!

1. What’s the cutest of the small, furry animals?
Baby bunnies, by far. When I see a tiny rabbit outside in the springtime, I completely melt. Those weensy ears!

2. What predator impresses you the most?
Bill Clinton.

3. After which animal will you name your professional sports team?
The cockroaches! After the (sport) season is over, the cockroaches will be the only team surviving! (The minor league team will be the Mexico City cucarachas!)

4. What’s an unusual animal that you know a little something about?
The three-toed sloth is slower than the two-toed sloth. Makes no sense…but I remember hearing it somewhere…

5. Your high school probably had some kind of mascot or symbol, but based on your memories of it, what animal should REALLY have been the emblem?
My high school’s mascot is the cougar. Since good chunk of the girls I went to school were spoiled, catty and “fast” I think it was perfect choice. (meow!)

1). Misty is completely fine and her usual cantankerous self again. I think Ollie must have ran into/over her and hurt her a bit. He landed on my stomach hard this morning when I was still in bed and I’m surprised he didn’t break my pelvis.

2). I’m using the WordPress iPhone app to blog this from the comfort of my own bed. It was a breeze to set up. Note: if you have a linksys wireless router, take the time to change the default password. Otherwise, you’re enabling lazy people like me to blog from the confort of their own beds

3). If you do have an iPhone, spend the extra money in a good screen guard. I picked up the Power Support anti-glare film set from the Apple Store and it is such an improvement over the cheap stuff I was using. No smudges!

That’s all for now. Nothing cool or notable has happened lately which is fine with me!

So the vet wants us to keep an eye on her. He thinks maybe she fell and injured herself or maybe it’s some fluke microscopic bleeding. She spent the night in the bathroom so as not to be bothered by the crazy dogs. Today she seems okay. No bloody pee on the towels or anything, and there’s no red in the box.

Googling “cat pee blood” does no good either. Every pet health thread I read ends up in a giant flame war. “Maybe the inhumane SHOCK COLLAR you put on your DOG has BROKEN its KIDNEY!!!” “Well, maybe if you didn’t BREED KITTENS your CAT would STILL be ALIVE!” They’re almost as bad as rec.arts.disney.parks used to be. Almost.

BTW, blood pee (!!) stains a carpet right good. :/

1. Who lets you have your way more than you should?
Any guy I’ve been with. I’m a charmer.

2. According to the cliche, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but what’s the way to yours?

A lovely dinner and a twirl on the dance floor…even if the dance floor is the living room floor. Been pondering taking some ballroom classes w/WM. “Dancing with the Geeks!” (BTW, have you seen the cast list for Dancing with the Stars this season? I love the show, but Kim Kardashian? Shoot me now. She’s Heather McCartney without the brains, charm, and fake leg. Bleah.)

3. What’s something that should have been put away but hasn’t been?

The laundry from Wednesday night. It’s still neatly folded in the basket. On the sofa.

4. When did you last weigh yourself?

Last Monday. Diet restarts this upcoming Sunday. The layoffs and the birthday celebrations have made me lazy.

5. What do the cops in the donut shop say?

Today we’ll be at the Shamrock Festival in Gloucester City and tonight I’m out with Mom, Aunt and the Cousins to celebrate last week’s birthday. I put the word out that I wanted Toppers gift cards – I’m in need of a spa day.

Max with half a haircut. He was very good but only stayed still while I shaved the black part. I do that kind of thing myself – he doesn’t have a style and he’s certainly no show dog, so I take the clippers to 1/2 inch and go to town with him. I figure I’ll grab him tomorrow or so for the tan half. (Black and tan, should’ve named him Yuengling ) And yes, that’s the seldom-photographed Misty chilling on the corrugated cardboard scratcher. The cats love those things. Those things do not love my carpet.

Time stamp is really 6:20am. Part of the joys of pet ownership. Now that we’re back from the walk I’m awake diddling online and he’s sleeping on the bed. What’s wrong with this picture?
