Code wrangling

I’m trying to add two right columns to the sidebar which is why you’re seeing all sorts of weirdness going on. Be patient.

Edited at 2:13pm Well guess what I discovered? My header file was hacked and a bunch of spam links were added. I noticed that Google stopped crawling my site in mid-March, and I think this was why. Let’s see…what did I do in mid-March? Oh yeah…I added that eyeball-searing pink Wordpress theme. That I got for free. I think it contained a file that allowed the hack to happen.

Anyway, I cleaned up the header file, changed my WordPress password to a complete jumbled mess of letters and numbers that I’ll probably forget tomorrow, and sent a mea culpa note to Google requesting they start crawling me again.

Now I need to walk away from the PC or else I’ll have a fit.

WordPress upgrades

This weekend I’ll be installing the newest version of my beloved CMS, WordPress 2.5. Hopefully nothing will go wrong, but if it does, you’ll know why.

Monday Monday

The Confirmation girl loved her gift card AND her necklace. So that’s a big “Yay!”

Hey! I finally updated the side graphics to match the butterflies. I re-installed the regular WordPress search, as the Google search really didn’t work for this site. Tweaked the sidebar a bit. I’m trying write my own WP template to display 2 left sidebars. The new hostess pic is actually being recycled from my World of Warcraft blog on the Courier-Post site. (WM got me the hat last Christmas - in WoW, if a character has a quest for you they have a big gold exclamation point above their heads.) Remember Freezerburned? I do too. Now that I’m eating Smart Ones on a daily basis again, I may dust it off. Time to make another push toward total web domination. (I kid.)

And I added my Twitters (I can’t call them Tweets) to the side. It took me over a year, but I’m really having fun with Twitter now.

Currently reading: The Faith Club. Books on deck are Reading Lolita in Tehran and Girl with a Pearl Earring.

Currently drinking: Arizona Diet Green Tea. It’s been 10 days since I’ve had “The Dew.”

Currently beading: Nothing. I’m toying with the idea of trying to create an illusion necklace. I have the clear transite cord, a ton of beads and a book with detailed instructions. No reason why I shouldn’t at least try.

Currently coding: At work, I’m going to be converting an 8 page sales flyer into a mini website. It’s exciting! I also did a very cool banner that I’ll show you once it starts running on the site. It even uses PHP!

Rabbit rabbit!

And Happy April Fool’s Day. Which means I do the dumb “flip my website backward” trick, (hey! I just ruined it for the RSS readers!) but you all knew that was coming, since I’ve done it in 2006 and 2007. (my God…my hair!!) And a few unarchived years before that, too.

You’ll notice the old design is back. The pink one, while fun for a week, was starting to hurt my eyes. I still like the 3-column format and will switch to it again, but I think a more subdued design leads to easier reading. So I’m going to tweak the current design rather than throw it all out and start over.
