Old box of photos: Lock N Roll, baby

25 Apr

There’s a young Lucky-dog in the uncropped version, so that dates this picture at Christmas, 1991. Which makes me 19 years old.

The Clairol Lock N Roll roller set was the BEST kit ever for putting a curl in my hair and keeping it there. Unfortunately, this was the cusp of the grunge movement, when big hair passed away as a fashion trend and aspiration.

RIP, big hair.

Box of old photos: Spring, early 80s

I always wanted to be a magician. Unfortuately, I had really clumsy sleight-of-hand skills and most magic tricks seemed too large for little girl hands.

Abra cadabra peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

That didn’t stop me from trying. This was a magic kit I got as a gift one year. My favorite magic item EVER, however, was a Harry Blackstone set that came with a gigantic hard cover book and a pimpin’ cassette tape.

The shirt says “Atlantic City, NJ.” The button says, “I believe in magic.”

Happy Birthday Sesame Street!

Sesame Street was a staple of my childhood…I learned so much from it and somewhere I have the Original Cast record. On vinyl (oldoldamsoold)

This was always one of my favorites:

Thank you for everything, gang, and here’s to 40 more!
