1. What was your favorite breakfast cereal when you were a kid?
Froot Loops, followed by Fruity Pebbles. We normally had Alpha-Bits though because they weren’t as sweet. Actually, Alpha-Bits was probably the third most joyless kid cereal behind Kix and Life.
2. What’s your favorite breakfast cereal now?
Froot Loops for life. But I purchase oatmeal or Frosted Mini-Wheats because they are heartier breakfasts.
Mmm…I really want some Froot Loops now. A coworker pointed out that there is a vodka now called Loopy which is supposed to taste like Froot Loop leftover milk. I’m intrigued and nauseated.
3. Where does cereal rank on your list of favorite breakfasts?
Sadly, fifth behind french toast, waffles, pancakes and scrambled eggs. I can usually go without a big breakfast but if I’m investing time in a good breakfast, may as well have a hot breakfast, yanno?
4. What serial novels or films have you most recently enjoyed?
The last serialized novel I enjoyed was the Twilight series, books 1 and 2. Books 3 went totally off the rails and book 4 was a complete hate read. Renesemee. Ugh. I prefer this version from Nicole Cliffe that’s on the Awl.
5. What recently surreal experience have you gone through?
I got married! (I swear, that’s the perfect tired-humor answer to every Friday Five question.)
The train I take into Philly each day goes across the Ben Franklin Bridge. On foggy days, I can’t see the city ahead or the river below. That’s pretty weird.
This was a pretty good week, as I ate my own breakfast (Weight-control oatmeal, which is basically plain old oatmeal and doesn’t compare at all to Froot Loops.) all 5 days this week, brought my lunch in 3 days, but only took a lunchtime walk once. It’s been really cold.
I miss Disney, even though we were JUST there in July. Luckily we have a spring trip planned. In the meantime I close my eyes when a train goes by and it almost sounds like a monorail.
