Stupid Beading Tricks: The pendant, finished
Posted January 18th, 2010 by Kimberly DowdMy first go at the pendant Friday night was disastrous. I couldn’t get the wire loops to fit within each other like I wanted. Funny enough, it was WM who came up with the solution. “Do you have smaller wire?”
Yes! I did! So I moved from having a 14 gauge outer loop and a 16 gauge inner loop to an 16 gauge outer loop and an 18 gauge inner lop. I used 26 gauge wire to wrap the crystal to the inner loop.
The smaller wires were thin enough that I could wrap them around themselves to form the bail. I split the wires a little bit at the top to form a more “artsy” bail. I’m wearing it to work today strung on a simple black nylon cord. It’s 1 3/8 inches (3.5 cm) long.
I want to redo it in sterling silver wire instead of my trusty non-tarnish craft wire. (I get that online at ParaWire and it beats the pants off of anything I can buy locally.) When I do that, I’m going to try to hide the snipped wire edges better.
But first…I’m going to try to make matching earrings!
