New year, new calendars!
3 Jan
Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were great! Mine were pretty good, though a lot more stressful than I’d like. I think it was the culmination of all of the stressors of 2009, which really kicked my butt. Like it kicked everyone else’s. Actually, I can dwell on the ENTIRE 2000-2009 period, or I can move on.
I choose to move on.
Just like last year, I hit the 50% off calendar sale HARD this year.
For the home desk, I happily, HAPPILY purchased the second Cute Overload calendar. While I initially thought I’d grow tired of cute animals by March, nearly every day brought a smile to my face. WM even asks each day to see the cute animals. Cute Overload is win!
Last year’s Zen calendar did nothing to make my job peaceful. It actually pissed me off with quotes and stories that were so…so…Sphinx from Mystery Men, who’d dish out quotes like:
He who questions training only trains himself at asking questions.
That was my Zen calendar. I only found one quote worthy of remembering, and it’s tacked to my cube wall. Curious?
Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy. – Kahlil Gibran
This year I wanted a lil’ bit of funny at work, so I went with the Urban Dictionary calendar. It’s a far cry from the Word-a-Day calendar I usually enjoy, but anything that’ll help me crack a smile at work is worth it.
Come on, 2010! Bring on the abundance, prosperity and FUN!
Edited to add: I’m very disappointed, though, that there’s no classic Disney wall calendar. I’ve had one in my kitchen since I moved here. Mind you, there are princesses, pixies, Hannah Montana & Jonas brothers calendars galore, but no old-school Mickey Mouse (not playhouse Disney) calendar. Bah.
