Nancy Drew journal from Overdue Industries

1 Jun

One of the things I like the best about the Collingswood Mayfair is poking through the craft booths. While it seems that every other booth is either someone making pillows/blankets out of licensed fabric (yay…another Hannah Montana pillow) or a someone making their own jewelry (which is why I don’t foresee an economic future for my beads and me) occasionally we’ll stumble across something great.

This year’s great was a booth from Overdue Industries. They take old, beat-up and unwanted books and make great things out of them, like jewelry, coasters…and journals!

I couldn’t resist the journal made from an old Nancy Drew book, The Hidden Staircase.

On the inside cover, they stamp the library card (remember those?) with the date the book was made, and the date it was purchased.

The journal pages are unruled, cream-colored and really good quality. They even leave in a few pages from the original book scattered throughout!

If you’re in South Jersey, they’ll be back in town for the Haddonfield Crafts & Fine Arts Fair in July. Otherwise, they have an Etsy shop!

Now all I need is a mystery!

Oh I like that a lot!
As a child, I was a big Nancy Drew fan I read most of the books. I’ve even collected a few first edition copies. :)

@NYOMom – I really should reread all of the Nancy Drew books. I wonder how weird my local library would think I am?

@Kellee – LOVED them. I wish I had more money! Good luck with the rest of your craft fair season!

I’m sure they get a lot of folks who love those books, so you’re not alone. I still purchase and get books like that from the library. :)
