Visualizations

(to self: just keep writing…write anything…just write anything)

I hate to go to bed stressed or angry. Unfortunately, that will happen from time to time because, well, I’m human.

In the event that I’m tossing and turning because of stress or anger, I have these little visualizations I use to relax. They are REALLY weird, but almost always work.

Anger: The anger is an ugly black bat flapping inside of my head. I work up as much anger as I can, letting the big bat grow and grow until it has no more room. Then my head hinges open (I told you this was weird) and the angry ugly bat flies away. I’m no longer angry.

Stress: I picture stress as thick black oil. At night, if I need to relax, I let my head tip sideways over the bed and imagine all the black oil pouring out of my head through my ear. (again, weird but effective) As my head empties, I relax.
