Inspired by a newspaper article about the HBO show based on this book, I sought it out to bring on our Disney Vacation in May. I read 3/4 of it on the plane ride down and then lost it when we unpacked after the trip. WM redid our bookshelves 2 weeks ago, and we found it!
Precious Ramotswe is the owner/operator of a detective agency in Botswana. Actually, it’s the only detective agency owned by a woman, so naturally it’s the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency. Armed with nothing more than smarts, common sense, and the desire to do good, Mma Ramotswe solves problems ranging from a teenager seeking independence to a presumed murder.
It’s warm, funny, and I found myself caring about the core group of characters. I loved this little book. So much so that I’m now in possession of the 2nd book in the series!
