We survived!
Posted August 19th, 2008 by Kimberly DowdLayoffs started at the opening of business this morning. I’m okay, Coworker S is okay, Boss is okay. But I saw a lot of really great people go, and that was heartbreaking.
By the power of Suze, I swear I’m going to work hard to beef up my savings to get at least 6 months’ worth of expenses in there. Because I think this is only the beginning of things.
I’m so sleepy. I haven’t slept well since the memo came out last Thursday.

I’m so glad. I’ve been thinking about you.

I’ve been on both sides and it’s sometimes hard to fathom which is better to be on: you see great people let go if you survive but your untimely demise is always lurking around the corner if you stay. Quite a paradox.
As such, your plan sounds good. Stick with it because you just never know when the proverbial “other shoe” will drop.
And WTF does that mean, BTW?

I’m so glad for you. It’s not only the thought of being laid off, but in an economy that is not in the best shape to take up another position. But you’re in a good position in terms of your skills. Happy for S. too

I am really pleased for you… I’ve been holding my breath for days now!!! The ripples normally arrive this side of the pond just after you… there is word out but nothing confirmed. Keep smiling!
