A downsizing riddle

18 Aug

What’s the worst thing about getting a “we’re laying off people early next week” memo on Thursday and going to work that next Monday?

The weekend of torture and second-guessing in between.

The best case scenario: me, Coworker S., Boss, and the people I like at work all keep our jobs and all of the dead wood gets tossed. Everything else is a downward spiral of suckiness.

(Stomach hurts…head hurts…etc.)

Edited 11:37pm Nothing happened today. Probably tomorrow. Hopefully before Wednesday because I have jury duty that day and I’ll go insane wondering if they’re trying to find me to lay me off.

best of luck. and even if the worst happens (and trust me, i know how bad it sucks!!) i’m sure you’ll land on your feet. seems like you’ve cultivated some pretty 133t ski11z there that should serve you well. the big thing is to avoid that two months of sitting on the sofa in your pajamas staring at the wall.

But really, given the way you’ve described the situation…. seems like you and your cohorts should be the LAST to get laid off.

again… good luck. try to STAY CALM!!! ;)

I am really sorry they’re putting you through this. It’s so damned sadistic!! I have my fingers crossed! And if you need an ear or a drinking buddy or anything else, I’m here!
