Yesterday WM, Ollie* and I went to visit my Dad. He’s retired now and lives in Florida, so he only meanders up here once a year. He stays with his friends who own a house on Gillman Lake. We brought Ollie because I really wanted to know if he could swim.

That guy next to pasty white me is my Dad, who has tanned to George Hamilton-levels in the 2 years he’s spent in the Sunshine State. I was half-expecting him to offer me a toasted Wheat Thin.
Me: I feel so pale. I tried self-tanner, but it went badly.
Dad: You could always try going out into the sun.

I think this was taken right after Ollie peed on me.

Here I am growing increasingly uncomfortable because I had fish bumping into my legs. Maybe they thought my bright white body was a big chunk of bread on hook. I’m not very outdoorsy. I prefer my water blue and Carribbean.
Shortly afterward, the skies opened up and we retreated inside to a lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, steak, corn (omg…the sweet Jersey corn) and potato salad.
Still wondering if Ollie can swim?

Yes, he can! He also spent hours frolicking in the dirt, fetching his ball, and playing with the mini-dachsund. He even had steak for dinner!
*Max stayed home. He doesn’t tolerate the heat well and is skittish with new people and strange situations. Ollie is lovable and dumb, so he’s easier to travel with. Don’t feel bad…Max spent the afternoon gnawing on a new rawhide bone and dozing on the sofa. I think he enjoyed the quiet.
(PS…Happy Birthday to BvP!)

I was really thinking that was headed toward Ollie not being able to swim. You sure know how to build up the suspense! Haha.
Was it just the mini dachsund? Don’t they still have that sweet lab?

We thought they were watching the lab for one of their kids last year - the lab wasn’t there this year. Sunday we just saw the mini, who is un-neutered and trying to be VERY friendly with Ollie.
Ollie can swim, but didn’t like it much because he couldn’t drag his heavy wet body up the steps to get out of the lake.

I’ve never seen a picture of your dad before!! Nice to see him!
Ollie looked quite pleased with himself for peeing on you!
