Thank you and a welcome
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. When you disappear from your blog for a few days then come back to lovely comments and emails…it’s a wonderful thing.
Now, I’d like you to meet the newest Kim 3.0 crisis/addition…

Oliver Queen Gypsy-Minstrel - born 6/21/07
See you probably thought I spent the last day poring through PHP books or reading up on post-35 skin care for women. But no…that’d be smart. Instead, we got a puppy. Meet Ollie.
Less than 10 lbs of ears and jowls, he’s a Cocker Spaniel puppy that we ended up getting from a breeder. Yes, I really don’t like breeders and pet shops, but the shelters here are full of Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes (which is not the right breed for my family at this point in time) and the rescues around here think that apartment dwellers can’t be good dog owners. And I wanted a puppy. Max was an adult when I got him from the shelter. Mickey before him was 6 years old when we took him. Charlie was full grown when we got him from his original owners. I think I’ve paid my dues when it comes to taking cast-off adult animals.

Look at him! You can’t resist the smoosh!
Ollie’s been a trooper so far. Fearless and sleepy at the same time. WM and I debated on the way home with him who he’d love more…and the answer is…Max. He follows Max around like he’s Elvis. Or Puff Daddy. Or whoever the kids swoon over these days. Max is a well-behaved yet aloof older brother. And fattening up, since we’ve been making him happy with extra treats. The cats are, well, the same.
Since we have to take Max outside a bunch of times a day, it’s no more trouble to bring Ollie too. We spent this morning at Knight Park, which is why Ollie is so dozy in these pics. He has a tan color that I call bread crust color. And he’s about the length of a loaf of French bread. So I’ve been calling him “mon petit baguette” which I really shouldn’t do.

“Stop taking my picture, please.”
Bienvenue, mon petit baguette! (Yes, the gender’s all wrong, but I can’t use the French feminine pronoun to describe a male bread-looking dog)

Lisa, you are completely correct…I never did a wrapup of June’s Celtic Fling at the Ren Faire…but I really enjoyed myself and depending on the puppy, we may go to the Scottish weekend there next weekend. I also have yet to blog about my Disney trip — since we’re coming on a month since the trip I can do that now without feeling whiny about going back. So much blog fodder, so little time! ![]()

Ahh.. he’s so cute… I had a dog that looked just like him when I was a kid, his name was Brandon (Punky Brewster phase) … He was the devil dog though… he always bit me and made me cry…. my mother ended up giving him away…… But I’m sure Ollie is a sweetheart… so so cute!
