1) When was someone or something recently Too Close for Comfort?
To get to work, usually I’ll take the PATCO train into Philadelphia and then take the office shuttle from there. But sometimes I’ll just take the Broad Street subway line instead, which drops me a block away from the office. (Like when I’m late or don’t feel like standing outside in gusty winds to wait for the shuttle. Or when the union guys who hand out anti-coffeeshop flyers across the street from where I stand start singing. The coffee shop’s been built, guys. Pack it in.) Anyway, there was a person on the subway screaming into a cell phone next to me this morning.
By the way, I have yet to see a guy’s junk on the subway. I’m so disappointed. It’s been almost 10 months! I thought public transportation was fraught with perverts and junk-tuggers. Step it up, Philly.
2) Besides yourself, who’s recently been in Double Trouble?
I’d say Karl Rove. 😉 I’m a Libertarian (waggles fingers at you menacingly) so I don’t really take a popular side in elections. Although if I lived in a critical state, I’d think harder about voting 3rd party. To run one of the most conservative fields and platforms the (R) party has run in a LONG time and emerge not only without the presidency but having the populace approve same-sex marriage AND pot legalization in certain states to boot? Not so good, team (R).
3) What’s Happening?
I’m trying to pull myself together. Between the root canal (awful awful awful), the cavities I need filled (two down, three to go), the two colds in a month (I’m still coughing from October’s go-round), and the upset stomach I got after the flu shot, I’m worn out. People scoff at 40 being “old” but seriously, I don’t bounce back as quickly from things as I did when I was 30. That’s not a “stick-your-head-in-the-oven” development, but I have to learn to be kinder to myself.
I never treated my stomach well after the flu shot, so the upset continued longer than it should have. I’ve decided to dump all soda consumption (shout-out to Dave for the inspiration!) and start eating blander foods for a bit. (Hi, chicken and rice! Hello, banana.) And I need to go to sleep earlier. We can blame World of Warcraft for part of that.
4) Who’s the Boss?
Well, there’s Boss Emeritus who still reads from time to time. But I’m in a GREAT predicament at the moment where current boss either hasn’t discovered my blog yet or doesn’t even care. Current Boss is one of the best managers I’ve had in a few years. I love my job at TNP – our department is awesome. If i could flash-freeze our department at it is right now I would in a minute.
5) What are you most likely to be up to from 9 to 5 tomorrow?
Probably plonking away at my NaNoWriMo effort for this year – 16,000 words and still not pulling my hair out. I’m actually ahead of the curve, thanks to working in an office with absolutely nothing of interest in the radius that my lazy self is willing to walk at lunchtime.
